Southmead Hospital
Mr Phillip Smith has been a Consultant at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, since 1989. Southmead has one of the largest departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the South West, with over 5500 babies delivered each year, and a correspondingly busy gynaecological unit. Students from the University of Bristol are attached to the department, and the training of future consultants and GP‘s is also an essential part of the work of the hospital.
Mr Smith runs antenatal, gynaecology and urogynaecology clinics, as well as community clinics at Portishead and Thornbury. He trained in Obstetric & Gynaecological Ultrasound in London at Kings College Hospital, and has access to modern ultrasound equipment in all his clinics. It is therefore possible to have a scan, if required, at the same time as the initial outpatient appointment.
Referrals are required from G.P.’s, and all clinics are accessible via the ‘choose and book’ system.
